peckvonhartel were engaged by Quintessential Equity to develop Geelong’s new business landmark, 1 Malop Street.

Designed to maximise ‘Live, Work, Play’ principles, the commercial office building is leading the way in providing work-life balance and features a concierge, café, gym and club style end-of-trip facilities with showers, lockers and bike racks. Celebrating the heritage of the Dalgety & Co building, the striking external façade enhances the natural light throughout and provides breathtaking ocean views.

In February 2016, WorkSafe Victoria selected 1 Malop Street as their new headquarters accommodation. The 14 storey office will accommodate over 700 WorkSafe employees and contractors. With 14,000 square metres of A-grade office space, targeting a 6-star green star rating and 5 star NABERS rating, the tower will be the tallest in the Geelong CBD. It is the gateway to Geelong’s primary city street and will modify the heart of Victoria’s second largest city.

Capitalising on the site’s prominent location the tower rises above the heritage building and delivers a unique structure driving a catalyst for urban change within the Geelong Area and a leap forward in workplace accommodation.

The building represents the very core objectives behind WorkSafe’s imperatives, of Health and Wellbeing, Sustainability, Innovation, Flexibility and Adaptability, Safety and Inclusiveness. The building has been designed with a large public presence, inviting ground level access, and strong connectivity from within to its surrounds.
