Base Building Refurbishment, 17 Moore Street, Canberra ACT

role Architecture, Interior Design project value $5 million area 6,500m² completed date July 2017 client CorVal

17 Moore Street is the latest office building in Canberra’s CBD to be transformed by major refurbishment. Located on the corner of Barry Drive and Moore Street, the newly refurbished 17 Moore Street building, owned by CorVal, has undergone an extensive building refurbishment.

peckvonhartel completed the design transformation which has re-branded the building with a full refurbishment internally and externally. 17 Moore Street now offers a chic and boutique style commercial building in the heart of the Canberra CBD.

The re-design has dramatically changed the exterior of the building, with a striking dark façade and a silver blade vertical element accentuating the new entry foyer and canopy. The foyer uses geometry and timber to create an interesting and elegant ambiance which is enhanced through the use of art and playful pendant lights to add drama and sophistication to the ground floor.

The use of artwork has complemented and enlivened the new hotel style end of trip facilities and the upper levels have been upgraded including bathrooms, lift lobbies and general office spaces. The top level offers a large balcony and the introduction of a BBQ area and pergola structure allows tenants to enjoy the stunning views across Black Mountain and the inner northern suburbs.

The building’s energy performance has also been improved with the inclusion of a new solar energy system, solar panels and LED lighting. This has seen the building achieve a 5-star NABERS Energy rating with the potential of reaching 5.5-stars once fully leased.
