peckvonhartel was engaged by Austwin Group Pty. Ltd to develop a planning application for a 45 level residential tower within Melbourne’s Capital City Zone.  The site is located towards the Northern boundary of the CBD and within an area undergoing significant urban transformation. Height is increasing from a majority of two storey warehouses to developments in excess of 200m.

The proposal for 48 A’Beckett Street looks to enhance the cities fine grain urban character by creating a viable development on a site once deemed un-developable.

The development comprises of 235 apartments configured into one and two bedroom units, with three penthouse apartments to the upper levels. The podium is a 12 level building containing the forecourt, foyer, an upper level substation, studio apartments and a rooftop terrace.

Passive solar design was carefully considered for each apartment layout, whilst inclusions such as grey water treatment, solar hot water pre-heating and rainwater collection help create a holistic ecologically sustainable design.
