The new KPMG Canberra office design offers a highly flexible space that is appropriate for meetings, conferences, dining and client functions, as well as being equipped to respond to global developments in technology.

peckvonhartel’s solution was to create a design that focuses on a central pavilion. With limited access to natural light, the materials and colour palette were selected to ensure lighting is able to change the atmosphere for varying uses.

peckvonhartel is delighted to announce our latest restaurant project, Jamie’s Italian Sydney with Pacific Restaurant Group, Jamie Oliver’s Australian partners.

This vibrant and lively venue marks the Australian debut for world renowned Jamie Oliver’s popular collection of Italian restaurants, with further sites set to open across Australia and New Zealand over the next few years.

Serving up to 200 guests at any one time, the challenge for peckvonhartel was to make it feel like 'a Jamie's' while being unique and relevant to the location. Inspired by the growing ‘laneway’ scene in Sydney's CBD; the design needed to be vibrant, functional and playful, catering to a broad demographic.

The elongated and soaring space is punctuated with many wonderful details and curious elements including a pasta station located in the front window, a mezzanine level antipasto bar and a dramatic 150kg industrial chandelier creating a vast beacon of shimmering light from the street. The copper clad kitchen at the rear is open and on display to the guests adding further theatre to the experience.

The groundbreaking concept has proved a phenomenon in the UK having already collected several industry awards for value, quality and design. peckvonhartel is in discussion about further projects in the new year.

With authentic Italian mains and delicious antipasti, Jamie Oliver’s highly acclaimed Jamie’s Italian restaurant is scheduled to open its doors at 107 Pitt Street in October. Promising fantastic dishes made with well-sourced, quality fresh and organic ingredients, Jamie Oliver devotees will not be disappointed.

peckvonhartel was appointed to convert the unusually narrow site into a fully functioning, multi level restaurant to cater for up to 200 guests.

The design borrows uniquely rustic elements of old Italy and blends them with Sydney’s rich and colourful diversity. With a palette of vibrant hues, the ‘laneway’ inspired setting features a pasta preparation window where onlookers will see a pasta machine churning out fresh pasta daily, and a vibrant antipasti and dessert counter.

Simon Blagden, managing director of Jamie’s Italian International says: “Australia is a country that Jamie’s been visiting for 10 years and he’s always been welcomed warmly. So it’s exciting that Jamie’s Italian is ready to launch in Sydney, which is one of the great cities of the world. Australians love going out and eating delicious food as much as anyone, so I’m sure Jamie’s Italian will appeal. It’s basically fantastic food and service at really good value.”

08.09.2011

02.09.2011
