Construction of the Wandin Yallock Primary School redevelopment is now complete. Established in 1870, the school is nestled amongst orchards and general farming land in Victoria’s picturesque Yarra Valley. The school’s strong relationship with the landscape was instrumental in the design of the new learning environment; adaptable educational spaces that are strongly linked to the outdoors accommodate the school’s contemporary teaching ideals.

The project consists of a new Learning Precinct made up of seven learning studios and a new administration and community hub. An architectural design journey has been derived from notions of place, land, and history embedded within the site and dictated by the community.

The new design of the school promotes both interior and exterior learning zones resulting in the construction of an all encompassing learning environment.

The school caters for a student population of approximately 180 but also acts as a community precinct for the surrounding region. With that in mind, the new design meets the learning needs of the students and provides a space for the community to come together.

The success of this redevelopment has led to peckvonhartel’s appointment for Stage 2 of the project.

23.07.2012

<itunes:author>Courtney Marriner </itunes:author>

This vibrant and lively venue marks the Australian debut for world renowned Jamie Oliver’s popular collection of Italian restaurants, with further sites set to open across Australia and New Zealand over the next few years.
