role Interior Design area 420m² completion date August 2008 client APPEA

APPEA (Australian Petroleum Production Exploration Association) is the peak national body representing Australia's oil and gas exploration and production industry.

Having completed the previous tenancy for APPEA, peckvonhartel was appointed to design a solution for the current tenancy.  The clients brief called for a functional space, yet one that was pleasant and fun for both clients and employees.  The client also stipulated a preference for the use of raw, earthy materials and tones which represent their production industry.

The solution incorporates a reception and entry area, two interconnecting meeting rooms that transform to a conference facility as required, offices, open workstation area and separate breakout space.  The conference facility is an integral part of the design that has been carefully developed and detailed, as part of the clients brief required that this facility be available for lease for external meetings and forums.

The entry area features natural stone, which wraps to form the reception counter, as well as glass and recycled timber.  The client possesses an extensive collection of artworks and sculptures and the design solution incorporates alcoves to the corridor, which are finished in recycled timber to house the collection.  The offices, open workstation area and break out area employ colour tones that mimic the natural materials that are employed in the front of house areas.

The fitout was delivered on time within a very short timeframe.
