Australian Taxation Office Franklin St, Adelaide SA

role Interior Design value $35 million area 32,000m² completion date November 2012 client Australian Taxation Office

peckvonhartel (in partnership with local Adelaide firm Hardy Milazzo), was engaged to design the new 32,000m² fitout for the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) in the Adelaide Central Business District.

The integrated fitout is located within the Tower 8 building on Franklin Street, which was part of Adelaide's City Central Precinct Redevelopment Plan; the largest urban development in the Adelaide Central Business District to date. The ATO fitout covers 14 consecutive floors, in addition to the ground and mezzanine levels and accommodates in excess of 2,000 personnel.

The design intent reflects ATO’s key organisational values of community, transparency and support, alongside their desire to foster a collaborative office culture. This focus on creating a connected workplace is articulated throughout each floor via a series of linking ‘laneways’ and ‘streetscapes’.  In addition to this, the design acknowledges the site’s unique locality, with a finishes palette inspired by the South Australian landscape.

The design implements best practice ESD design principles under a commitment to achieve a 5 Star Green Star rating for both the building and fitout.
