Narellan Police Station Camden NSW

role Design Feasibility, Architecture area 3,000m² completion date March 2011

peckvonhartel designed the new 24hour Local Area Command at Narellan, NSW on behalf of United Group Services for the NSW Police Capital Works portfolio.  It unites the region's Custody, Crime Management, Highway patrol, Detectives, TAG police departments and Court staff in a central location.

The pragmatic requirements of the police station dictated much of the internal layout and planning.  The volume of the three storey building is varied to maintain view corridors to the former St Thomas' Church on Wilson Crescent, while allowing light and aspect into the interior spaces.

Face-brick cladding provides a robust and civic presence at ground level and lightweight cladding to the upper levels articulates the building volume.
