peckvonhartel were engaged by ISIS on behalf of the ACT Health Directorate for the Building Information Modelling (BIM) Management role of the Canberra Hospital Building 1 Level 5 refurbishment. The refurbishment required a fully coordinated BIM model as part of a new hybrid GC21 contract the ACT Health Directorate and Shared Services being tested for future adoption.

The refurbishment works comprised a full demolition of current fitout. peckvonhartel’s role as BIM managers involved directing, managing and coordinating the project consultant team in the development of a comprehensive BIM model of proposed fitout.

In order to ensure successful collaboration between consultants, peckvonhartel developed a project BIM Management plan, Level of Development (LOD) matrix and workflow process map. peckvonhartel utilised the coordinated BIM model for the production of 3D visualisation, increased accuracy of cost estimation and services coordination with clash detection software. peckvonhartel were also required to create the Architectural BIM model of the proposed fitout.

Assisting the client and project manager and consultant team to understand the challenges and requirements of a successful BIM project delivery, peckvonhartel led the team to realise the benefits of collaborative BIM project delivery.
