The Russian Federation has had a diplomatic presence in Australia since the 1940s. This new embassy complex will bring with it the opportunity to represent the country on a much grander scale and offer a greater opportunity for cultural exchange between the two countries.
peckvonhartel was engaged by the Russian project manager to facilitate the Works approval and BA approval process for the delivery of the new Embassy and Consular building located in Yarralumla ACT. The master plan consists of two separate buildings, an Embassy building of 4,600m² and a Consular building of 900m².
The main building design was carried out in Russia with the material selection and final external design led by peckvonhartel through discussion between the National Capital Authority and the client. A preference was given towards the use of local materials and the final external design and material selection was driven by peckvonhartel.
Throughout the process peckvonhartel successfully liased with local authorities as well as both Russian and local consultants to achieve NCA works approval.
