FaHCSIA Darwin Woods Street, Darwin NT

role Interior Design value $6 million area 5,000m² completion date 2009 client FaHCSIA

As a result of previous work and our ongoing successful relationship with FaHCSIA, peckvonhartel was commissioned to provide design services for the Department’s new Head Office in Darwin NT.

In addition to maintaining FaHCSIA’s national core image, the client required a distinct solution that represented the unique work culture of the Darwin branch that also addressed their forecasted change and growth challenges. Further, the Client wanted the fitout to be recognised by the Green Building Council of Australia as a Green Star fitout to reflect the Department’s commitment to environmental initiatives.

peckvonhartel worked extensively with the Client, Consultants and Contractors to achieve a holistic, forward-thinking design solution that responded to the evolving functional requirements of the Department. To achieve the 5 Star Green Star rating, detailed space planning, careful selection of sustainable furniture and finishes, and energy and water-efficient fittings were all implemented in the design.

peckvonhartel developed a design that was largely influenced by Darwin’s iconic geography, with finishes and graphic elements reminiscent of the surrounding landscape.
