Whole of Government Property Strategy, ACT

role Design Advisory value NA completion date January 2012 area 85,000m² client ACT Government

peckvonhartel was engaged by the Economic Development Directorate of the ACT Government to undertake a review of their current office accommodation portfolio and provide a strategic framework which would evaluate their properties and establish a strategy for the use of those properties in the future.

The intent of this review was to provide the Government with a strategy to divest under performing properties, retain buildings that met the Government requirements, or where appropriate and cost effective, identify existing properties that may not meet requirement in their current form, but could with future investment.

This work set the foundation for the ACT Government to move forward with a long term view of how their property portfolio could support a future workplace.

The ACT Government subsequently used this review to;

  • Establish physical requirements for major building developments,
  • Create base building performance briefs for new developments,
  • Establish evaluation criteria for new properties, and
  • Write fit out briefs to support a new and efficient working environment.

peckvonhartel partnered with the ACT Government in all of the above phases ensuring the outcome and recommendations of the review were integrated into future projects.
