peckvonhartel was engaged by Healthland Fitness International to design their flagship Fitness Centre at 20 Bond Street, Sydney and in doing so, to create a benchmark for future Healthland city fitouts.

The design of their first central Sydney gymnasium was as an opportunity for Healthland to introduce their brand to a more corporate clientele, requiring a departure from their standard interior design and imaging.

New facilities, finishes and loose furniture, sign and poster graphics and a sophisticated audio-visual system were introduced. Large scale printed screens depicting animated sporting images and televisions were introduced throughout to animate the space to visually and acoustically draw members through the facility and to enhance the perception of movement within the club.

The facility, over three consecutive levels and with a central triple height void, accommodates core workout areas including aerobics, spin and boxing studios, free and heavy weights training, as well as a health café, yoga studio and members lounge. Training areas have been planned to facilitate efficient circulation and minimise waiting times for use of equipment.

The 3,200m² Bond Street fitout lead to the design of Healthlands leisure facilities at Penrith Panthers which serviced a proposed external wave pool, and the opening of Fitness First in Carlingford Court Shopping Centre with facilities including an internal pool and gymnasium.
