Jamie's Italian Perth140 William Street, Perth, WA

role Interior Design value $3 million area 800m2 completed date March 2013 client Pacific Restaurant Group

After the success of the Sydney site, the next Jamie’s Italian Australian venture was a new restaurant in Perth.  peckvonhartel were once again engaged by PRG (Pacific Restaurant Group) to provide interior design services for the project.

The ‘A’ Grade site is part of a new development that forms a retail hub and transport link at ground level, with a commercial tower sitting behind a fully restored heritage façade.

The restaurant, square in nature, sees the large kitchen, bar and anti-pasti flanking a bustling open dining area that bears all the hallmarks of a Jamie’s Italian.  A pasta making area is located at the entrance adjacent to full height windows that look out onto William Street. The dining area seats approximately 170 people and is furnished with a mixture of whitewashed banquettes and eclectic industrial pieces.

A large beaded glass chandelier hangs in the centre of the space alongside a mix of industrial pendants and wall lights that help give the restaurant its rugged charm.  The combination of subway tiles and timbers that adorn the walls are punctuated by back lit wine displays and merchandising stands and a recycled timber floor runs through the space.

The footpath and adjacent laneway seats another 60 diners externally and provides a connection to the nearby retail precinct, breathing life into what was a dormant thoroughfare.

To give the space some local context a street artist from Perth was engaged to paint a site specific mural that can be seen upon entry.
