peckvonhartel celebrated its 2009 Christmas party in Canberra on Tuesday December 8. A series of presentations, management and strategy exercises in the morning was followed by a tour of the National Portrait Gallery by Graeme Dix. It was then on to lunch and drinks at the Pialligo Estate Winery, where staff enjoyed the chance to relax and catch up. It was a fun day and a great opportunity for peckvonhartel staff to celebrate another year of fantastic work. The gathering of staff reinforces our capability and our policy of thinking, operating and enjoying being a National Practice.

The new Melbourne Convention Centre is on track for an early 2009 completion. Trust member Yvonne von Hartel reports that the 5,000 seat auditorium and associated meeting room and conference areas are on schedule for the formal mid 2009 opening. The new Centre has been awarded a 6 Star Green Star environmental rating by the Green Building Council of Australia under its Convention Centre rating tool, for the Convention Centre's innovative environmental design and operational features; the first in the world for a convention centre.

Staff from all offices of peckvonhartel were flown to Sydney for the 2007 Christmas party. A highlight of the two day event was an inspirational talk on leadership given by Rod McGeoch AO which was followed by dinner at the newly opened peckvonhartel designed Taste Restaurant. Needless to say great fun was had by all.
