Don’t miss out on the National Arboretum open day in Canberra tomorrow, 8 October, where visitors will be able to drive through the southern forests which are usually closed to the public.

    peckvonhartel was delighted to note the appointment of Catherine Townsend, a peckvonhartel alumni, as ACT Government Architect. Catherine was a Principal in our ACT office, a role she shared with Jo Metcalfe, now General Manager ACT and Southern NSW for GHD. The Practice has always looked for and developed leadership skills in its staff, and while taking no credit for the later development in Catherine and Jill we take pride in their achievements as we do with the many peckvonhartel alumni and team members.

    Congratulations to Quintessential Equity for securing the single largest property investment to date for the new WorkSafe headquarters at One Malop Street, Geelong! Quintessential Equity secured $68 million in construction finance provided by the federal government’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation. Designed by peckvonhartel the project is aiming for a 5.5 star NABERS energy rating and will be a leading example of how green solutions can be incorporated with an historic landmark building....

    Canberra’s tallest residential building and Gungahlin’s first high-rise residential development ‘Infinity Towers’ is set to change the face of the Gungahlin town centre. peckvonhartel responded to the challenge set by the developers GEOCON, for their largest development to date. The two towers will hold 426 apartments, over 50 of which have already sold since launching to the market in April. At 20 and 22 storeys and a height of 70 metres, Infinity Towers will be one of the highest structures in Canberra.

    WorkSafe Victoria announces Quintessential Equity will develop their new $120 million headquarters at 1 Malop Street in Geelong. Designed by peckvonhartel, the new development will lead the way in providing work-life balance whilst celebrating the heritage of the site by incorporating the historic Dalgety & Co building into its striking external façade. Construction of the new 14 storey commercial office tower by construction firm Built will get underway within months.

    Gungahlins first high-rise residential development, Central Park Gungahlin, has received approval for the development application from the Planning and Land Authority on 5 November 2015. Designed by peckvonhartel, the $250 million project will deliver three apartment buildings, with the tallest being almost 70 metres. Construction of the complex, proposed by Canberra developers Geocon, is expected to begin at the end of 2016.

    Congratulations to Lend Lease and the entire project team for their recent success at the 2015 Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards over the weekend. Winyu House, the new ACT Government offices located in Gungahlin and designed by peckvonhartel, won the National Award for Commercial/Industrial Project $20m - $50m. peckvonhartel is proud to have been part of the greater team which delivered such an outstanding project.

    The Professor Marie Bashir Centre at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital campus, NSW has been announced as one of three highly commended winners in the Mental Health category at the Design & Health 2015 International Academy Awards as part of the Design & Health 11th World Congress and Exhibition held in Hong Kong. Designed by peckvonhartel in collaboration with Silver Thomas Hanley, the Professor Marie Bashir Centre is a contemporary, purpose built psychiatric care centre which provides accommodation across 6 levels, the first facility in this multi-level configuration in Australia.

    Geelong’s new $90 million business landmark, 1 Malop Street, was officially listed for lease on Friday 12th June. Construction of the 12 storey building at the historic Dalgety & Co site will begin next year and is due for completion in 2018. Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons said the project signalled the revitalisation of the CBD.

    Chief Minister Andrew Barr has officially opened Winyu House, the new ACT Government offices located in Gungahlin. peckvonhartel’s design connects over 650 staff vertically and horizontally across a four storey open atrium. The contemporary design provides a workplace that promotes connectivity and openness and supports the ACT Government’s efforts to create collaborative, forward looking workplaces, and to influence the emergence a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture.
