Senior Property Officers Forum
role Workplace Consultancy conducted date February 2011 client Department of Finance and Deregulation
Senior Interior Designer Karen Clutson was invited by the Department of Finance and Deregulation to be a guest speaker at the Senior Property Officers Forum (SPOF). Karen’s topic was Putting your Property Management Plan into Action. Drawing on her extensive experience in Europe and recent Australian work, Karen successfully delivered a presentation that offered design solutions for greater density needs in a workspace environment.
Karen is a specialist consultant in the delivery of workspace fitouts. The Design Process and its continuous evolution, built on improvement from projects before, was the key discussion put forward to the Department. The Design Process comprises of Design Intelligence, Design Concept, Design Development, Detailed Design and Technical Standards.
The development of Style Guides or Accommodation Guidelines during the Design Concept phase is something peckvonhartel is accustomed to producing for various Government departments and organisations such as Airservices Australia, the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Families Housing Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. Initial stages of the Design Process are crucial in ensuring a successful project follows. Karen’s presentation put forward the benefits of such design guides in order to create consistent messages and provide support to outsourced supply partners.
Other crucial workspace design factors that were presented by Karen at the SPOF was the importance of creating collaboration and a cultural centre rather than greater separation, the understanding of characteristics and needs of different generations, and the value of ongoing innovation to enable different ways of working as opposed to habitual ideas.
