Victoria Golf Club Park Road, Cheltenham VIC
role Architecture, Interior Design value $3.6 million area 3,500m² completed date July 2002
A Refurbishment of the Victoria Golf Club was undertaken in readiness to host the 2002 Australian Golf Open and to commemorate the Club Centenary in 2003. Player access has been rationalised and facilities modernised to create a functional and atmospheric clubhouse.
The building is listed in the local conservation scheme and renovation works, while significant in scope, were designed with particular care to minimize impact on any aspect of the original building.
The works included office fitout, commercial kitchen, redesign of a number of bars and food servery areas, retail outlets and an expansive new terrace area which returned the building to its original design intent and restored the relationship to the course and landscaping.
The project was completed in four concurrent stages all of which were completed on time and on budget whilst maintaining a functioning clubhouse throughout the refurbishment.
