Yvonne von Hartel AM | Founding Principal

Yvonne von Hartel AM is a Founding Principal of the award-winning national architectural and urban design practice, peckvonhartel. Yvonne has practiced as an architect for 49 years, working on Australia’s largest and most significant infrastructure projects.

Yvonne is currently a Director of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust and Chair of its Capital Works Committee, a Council member of La Trobe University Council and a member of its Infrastructure and Estates Planning Committee, a Commissioner of the Victorian Building Authority, a Director of the Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd, a Director of the University of Wollongong, SMART Infrastructure Advisory Council, and is the Independent Specialist Advisor – Design for the Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct,  Design Advisor for the Capital Metro Project Canberra and a member of the Design Review Panel for WestConnex for the Sydney Motorway Corporation. She has served as Chair of the Sustainability in Buildings Standards Coordination Group of Standards Australia, as inaugural chair of the Victorian Design Advisory Council, and as a Director of the national Tourism and Transport Forum.

During her career, Yvonne has taught both full time and part time at the School of Architecture at the University of Melbourne. In 2007, Yvonne was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for ‘services to architecture, design and building through involvement with a range of professional organisations, to the promotion of women in business, and to the community’. Yvonne graduated from the University of Melbourne with Honours in Architecture and is a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects (LFAIA). She has completed the Executive Management Program at the Melbourne Business School.
