peckvonhartel have been engaged by the Department of Transport to design a state of the art workplace comprising of 13,000m2 across six levels. The facility will co-locate a number of the Department’s functions and services into one purpose-designed facility, enhancing collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Our scope includes designing a new experience for their Department of Transport Customer Service Center on the ground floor of the building, a mezzanine level business lounge for their external clients, shared support spaces and social environment for staff, and base building amenities including end of trip facilities and a rooftop terrace. Our primary design objective is to provide value for money design solutions without compromising on the quality of workplace or GovHub design standards. Our design team is also undertaking extensive base building assessments to ensure that the integrated fit-out will be suitable for the Department’s current and future requirements.
The new workplace transitions the Department towards a flexible and agile workplace, with the new design motivated to support the Department’s shift towards a hybrid work style. Each member of its workforce will have the independence to choose their work setting with access to a full range of support facilities. Over six floors, the Department’s personnel have access to workstations for siloed work, digitally integrated collaboration spaces and large-scale training facilities.
As a core component of our innovative engagement strategy, peckvonhartel’s design team has utilised Revit 3D modelling software to deepen our ability to connect with the Department’s project stakeholders and end-users, providing them with an in-depth understanding and awareness of the built environment as we are designing. This live, ‘in-situ’ approach to stakeholder engagement is critical to supporting feedback and buy-in throughout the design process. Importantly, this consultation enables peckvonhartel to test and refine our early design outcomes, ensuring that the end design outcome supports the Department’s unique requirements.
