role Architecture & Interior Design

value $25 million area 25,000m²

completion date November 2009

peckvonhartel was appointed to provide design services for the upgrade and refurbishment of 175 Pitt Street. The decision to upgrade was timely as the current building tenant is due to vacate the premises in mid 2008.

The brief was to enhance the commercial aspect of the building to complement the retail podium on the corner of King and Pitt Street. The scope incorporated both external and internal works, including the upgrade of finishes, fixtures and fittings, as well as the building services and amenities.

peckvonhartel sought to capitalise on the prominent location of the building by developing a design that gave a strong presence to the entry of the building. The design solution includes bringing the façade further toward Pitt Street and providing a zinc-cladded form that contrasts with the existing façade and creates a focal point to the entry.

All commercial levels were completely refurbished and the ground floor layout re-planned to enhance the café area, the retail tenancies and to create an A grade commercial office building entry. The commission also involved upgrading the ESD rating of the building through services, finishes and fittings.
