peckvonhartel were engaged by Stockland to revitalise 40 Cameron Avenue, a landmark commercial office property in the heart of Belconnen. The building was originally completed in 1992 and a comprehensive overhaul to attract new tenants. peckvonhartel were appointed to provide services for the entire design process from preliminary concept through to construction delivery.

The building refurbishment was designed to achieve a minimum 4.5 Star NABERS rating and A-grade standard as defined by the Property Council of Australia.  Each level of the base building and associated amenities were upgraded accordingly and incorporated new finishes, fixtures & fittings.

The ground floor redesign called for a direct connection between the building entry and the lift lobby, and allowed for a ground floor cafe tenancy to activate the street frontage of the building at its most prominent corner. A mixture of new communal and semi-private meeting spaces were introduced to offer prospective tenants additional amenities, with a rich dark finishes palette creating a comfortable environment.

Using current modelling techniques the team were able to test various options for the external building upgrade. By refinishing specific external elements, the team were able to drastically contemporise the building at remarkable value for the level of visual impact achieved. This represented an excellent outcome for Stockland and its shareholders.
