peckvonhartel were recently engaged to provide a master plan for Benetas’ showcase facility, Broughton Hall. As the founding facility for the organisation, the brief called for a complete modernisation of the existing facilities as well as the heritage mansion ‘Tara’. peckvonhartel worked with Benetas to ensure the master plan response met their operational philosophy of lifestyle, serviced and nursing units creating residential scale living zones.
The team worked alongside a heritage adviser and quantity surveyor to ensure an accurate understanding of the heritage impacts, staging and subsequent costing could be conveyed to Benetas through a detailed master plan report. The final design was based around a glazed linking element as the dominant architectural gesture, surrounded by clusters of resident rooms. The building siting has been driven by a desire to maximise resident outlook and green landscape links between built form.
The resultant master plan achieved the development requirements of the brief of a 120 bed facility whilst respecting issues regarding boundary setbacks, overlooking and overshadowing. peckvonhartel look forward to assisting the development team in achieving board approval to commit to the ongoing design and documentation of this significant redevelopment of the Broughton Hall site.
