Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, Mascot

peckvonhartel were engaged by RPS Project Management to design and deliver a new fitout for the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR), who are relocating to a new building which will also be occupied with the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development (DIRD). The move to a new building offered the possibility to design the fitout to suit the two departments in a more practical and functional co-located way.

The major initiatives implemented in the new workplace are flexibility and collaboration, as well as DAWR’s support for the deletion of offices for senior management resulting in efficient utilisation of open office areas. An internal staircase has been introduced to connect all business groups across three (3) levels of the fitout. A conference and business centre has been integrated into the design to encourage collaboration amongst the staff and connectivity with clients.

Purpose built laboratories for the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources inspection facilities take up 400m2 of the fitout. The combination of QC1, QC2 and QIC2 laboratories assist the Department to carry out their specialist functions of imported material inspection and quarantine risk detection.

The 5,000m2 fitout was delivered as an integrated fitout utilising the flexible workplace initiatives that peckvonhartel has previously developed for the Department.
