Northbourne Square will be a new commercial development in the heart of Civic, Canberra. peckvonhartel is appointed as the design architect for the redevelopment of the existing site. Overlooking Veterans Park, the new development will comprise three commercial towers offering over 59,000m² of A-grade office accommodation targeted at government and corporate clients. The three separate buildings will be interconnected at ground level by an internal retail podium and a civic square, planted with mature trees to enhance the public realm of this significant Canberra site.
A key element of the design is an architectural response that will allow the buildings to be targeted and tailored both to the individual requirements of government and private sector tenants without compromising overall functionality. Through a collaborative design approach that involved research from external property consultants and in-house interior design evaluation, the architectural response has taken into consideration feedback to ensure the workspace has been maximised for efficiency and adaptability.
Each building at Northbourne Square has been designed to achieve a minimum 5 Star NABERS Energy Rating as well as a 5 Star Green Star rating.
