peckvonhartel is pleased to announce the recent completion of refurbishment work to the Stamford Plaza hotel in central Melbourne. peckvonhartel provided architectural and interior design services for the 26 additional suites to the Little Collins Street façade, complimenting the penthouse and pool areas refurbished by peckvonhartel in January 2014.
The new suites, which are replicated in mirrored pairs across 13 levels, feature recessed bulkhead lighting to create an impression of flotation and lightness whilst the dark finishes and strong geometries reinforce the distinctive character of the refurbishment.
The design brief highlighted the need for the design to accommodate a varied clientele with both a corporate and leisure focus. This is reflected in the high quality of the finishes as well the union of functionality and comfort achieved in the careful selection of loose furniture and integrated joinery.
Working with Schiavello and Montlaur, construction works lasted approximately 6 months with minimal disruption to the hotel operation and room availability. “We really appreciate the support and professionalism that peckvonhartel has provided over the years and certainly during the project itself. It was one less thing to worry about knowing peckvonhartel was on top of things and had the hotels best interest at heart” Adam Hamilton, General Manager, Stamford Plaza Melbourne.
