peckvonhartel is proud to have been entrusted by a global technology company to design its new Melbourne Headquarters within Melbourne Quarter Tower (MQ2). The project reflects the firm’s ambition to create an inclusive, connected, and future-focused workplace that supports innovation, collaboration, staff wellbeing, and long-term business growth.
A key element of the project was to strengthen client, partner, and sales engagement across the Oceania business. The client identified the need for environments that could support product demonstration, storytelling, and experience-led engagement while reinforcing the brand’s leadership in innovation. At the same time, the workplace was required to elevate the overall quality and flexibility of the environment to maintain a strong competitive advantage, without losing the distinctive workplace culture for which it is globally renowned.
peckvonhartel’s design approach was grounded in listening and engagement. A key part of this process involved workshops, interviews, and workplace studies undertaken with key stakeholders across local teams and regional head office, shaping a clear vision, workplace objectives, and experience principles aligned with firm’s culture, global standards, and business priorities.
This process was underpinned by our deep understanding of high-performing retail environments and the creation of engaging, experience-led spaces for both customers and staff. This insight was a key part of peckvonhartel’s engagement, bringing a proven capability in shaping environments that support connection, storytelling, and brand-led interaction.
This experience-driven approach shifted the workplace focus beyond traditional desk-based planning and standard collaboration spaces, towards a fully integrated and coordinated environment. The result is a workplace that optimises floor space to support business growth, client and sales engagement, and meaningful interaction with external stakeholders and the wider community — while maintaining the energy, creativity, and culture synonymous with the firm’s global workplaces.
A defining feature of the headquarters is the strategic layering of emerging and advanced technologies throughout the workplace, delivered in alignment with the firm’s complex global standards. Technology is seamlessly embedded across the environment to support engagement, experimentation, and performance, reinforcing the workplace as a platform for innovation rather than a traditional office setting.
A key element of this approach is the Tech Talk space — a flexible, multi-purpose presentation and event venue designed to showcase technology, ideas, and storytelling at scale. Purpose-built for high-profile internal and external engagement, the space integrates advanced AV systems, flexible tiered seating, and a carefully engineered acoustic strategy, enabling everything from keynote presentations and live demonstrations to digital broadcasts, while meeting the firm’s rigorous global requirements. A commercial and reheat kitchen supports catered functions, reinforcing the hospitality experience and enabling the firm to host community and industry events.
Designed for impact, adaptability, and experience, the Tech Talk space exemplifies the firm’s global workplace standards while expressing a distinctly local identity. Through close collaboration with the firm, peckvonhartel has delivered a workplace that not only meets functional and cultural requirements, but also supports business engagement, showcases innovation, and reinforces the firm’s position as a leader in technology, culture, and workplace design.
