Yvonne von Hartel AM amongst Australia’s renowned Architects to select Sydney’s new Airport Terminal design

The first preview of Sydney’s new Airport has been unveiled with architects appointed to design the state-of-the-art terminal precinct at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.

The winning concept was selected by a curated panel of some of Australia’s most renowned architects including peckvonhartel’s Founding Principal Yvonne von Hartel AM, alongside Peter Poulet and Kim Crestani. Yvonne von Hartel AM has practiced as an architect for over 50 years, working on Australia’s largest and most significant infrastructure projects as an architect and trusted advisor.

“The design expresses contemporary yet timeless design; a building form that presents as an elegant, timeless and signature expression of an airport terminal that will grow in stature with the anticipated future expansion” says Yvonne. peckvonhartel have a long history of providing design advisory and peer review services to major government and commercial clients. Western Sydney International will open in 2026 initially catering for up to 10 million passengers per year. It will be a full-service airport with international, domestic and regional flights.
